PHP vs Python

Both languages are good for developers but many people get confused between choosing one of them. So here we will discuss both languages in different ways. First of all, introduce both languages individually.

What is PHP?

PHP is a widely used an open source server-side scripting language, especially for web development. It can be embedded into HTML. Php was created in 1994 since there is a various version of PHP come out and the latest version is PHP 7.3. PHP scripts can only be interpreted on a server that has PHP installed. PHP file contains <?php tag and ends with extension ".php".

What is Python?

Python is a general-purpose programming language. It is used for web development (server-side), Software development, Machine learning, AI etc. Python can be used on a server to create web applications, alongside software to create workflows, can connect to the database system, to handle big data and perform complex mathematics, used for rapid prototyping or for production-ready software development etc. The latest version of Python is Python 3.7.

Which language should I learn in 2019?

Definitely, python is a favorite language for many programmers, because it is easy to learn just like English.

 It is having so many libraries and doing a thing is easier there just because there are so many third party libraries that can include in your code and can perform things faster.

There are too much of the people saying nowadays that PHP is outdated language and python is trending language that is why they want to go with a python.

But I am telling you that is a myth, PHP is still a rock-solid language for server-side web development and is going to be rock-solid as well. There is nothing wrong to go with python but what I meant to say that both are different and different uses.

The most important thing that you should look up obviously. For example,  if I want to make an android app I would love to choose something like either javascript or java core. I would never choose something like python for my android development, surely there are frameworks available but for that case, python can be an absolutely bad choice.

Now similar on to that if I would love to choose something like machine learning or deep learning things. I would like to choose something like python. I would not like to go with PHP surely there are libraries or frameworks there as well but I would like to go with python.

Even WordPress is made up of PHP and MySQL. It is still dependent on PHP and that is why finding a job with this with the knowledge of PHP is still easy. Another side many site famous sites like Google and Facebook are using python so that is also easy to find a job with python.

So don't compare these languages to each other both are amazing and both have different uses. Its all depend on you that which language you want to really learn.

Now The question is, what should I learn PHP or python in 2019? So my answer is that if you have enough time then you must learn both.

If you want to select one of them then select according to your needs i.e if you want to learn machine learning, deep learning and AI then you should go with Python or If you want to become a web developer then you should go with PHP.
